Abdul Salam Arif
Abdul Salam Arif, president of Iraq (1963-1966). On July 14, 1958, he played a leading role in the coup in which the monarch régime terminated changing Iraq into republic state. Because he had tremendus popularity, Arif succeeded in being selected the first president of Iraq after prime Minister Abdul Karim Qassim was overthrown on February 8, 1963. He at first supported the Ba'ath Party, but withdrew from it following an anti-Ba'ath movement later in 1963. Wikipedia
