Aluf Aharon Remez was an Israeli politician and the second commander of the Israeli Air Force. Remez was born in British Mandated Palestine in Tel Aviv. His military career began when he entered the Haganah in 1936, but just three years later he was sponsored by the Jewish Agency to receive flying lessons in New Jersey and join the Royal Air Force. At the end of 1947 Sherut Avir, the air wing of the Haganah, was formed. Wikipedia
