Alan Wearne (born 1948) is an Australian poet. Alan Wearne was born and grew up in Melbourne. He studied history at Monash University where he met the poets Laurie Duggan and John A. Scott. Having published two collections of poetry he branched out into the verse novel with "The Nightmarkets", published in 1986 which won the Banjo Award and has been adapted for performance. He has since continued with the verse novel form despite distinctly uncooperative publishers. Wikipedia
