Alvan Flanders (August 2, 1825 - March 14, 1884) was a Delegate from the Territory of Washington. Born in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, Flanders attended the public schools. Learned the machinist trade in Boston. He moved to Humboldt County, California, in 1851, and there engaged in the lumber business until 1858, when he moved to San Francisco.
