Ann Macbeth (1875-1948), born in Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire, England, was a famous embroideress and author, a part of the Glasgow Movement, and an associate of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Macbeth studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and became head of its embroidery department. She published five books on embroidery, including "Needleweaving", published in 1922.
