Artashes Geghamyan, b. December 2 1949, Yerevan, is an Armenian politician. He finished Chekhov Secondary School 1966 and graduated from the State Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1971. He joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1972. From 1989-1990 he was elected the Mayor of Yerevan. In 1990, he quit the Communist Party.
