Robert (Bob) W. Galvin (born on October 9, 1922 in Marshfield, Wisconsin) is the son of the founder of Motorola, Paul Galvin. He attended the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago. In 1940, he began working for Motorola and was named president of the company in 1956. Two years later he succeeded his father as chief executive officer.
