Clayland Boyden Gray, born February 6, 1943, is the United States Ambassador to the European Union. He took that post on January 17, 2006, when President George W. Bush granted him a recess appointment to the post. Prior to that, he was a partner with the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. He served as White House Counsel to President George H. W.
