Carol Martin nee Pilkington (born 31st October 1957) was the first Aboriginal woman to be elected to any Australian Federal, State or Territory Parliament. Martin was elected to the Thirty-sixth Parliament of Western Australia, as a candidate of the Australian Labor Party in the electorate of Kimberley. She was elected on February 10, 2001, in succession to Hon. Ernest Francis Bridge, who retired. She was re-elected in the 2005 State Election. Wikipedia
