Celso Pitta was the first Afro-Brazilian mayor of São Paulo, Brazil from 1997 to 2000. He was elected as the successor of Paulo Maluf, having his explicit political endorsement, since he worked with Maluf's administration as Secretary of Finance. He was a member of the PPB party at that time, and faced corruption allegations like his predecessor, most notoriously with accusations coming from his ex-wife, Nicéa Camargo. Wikipedia
