Charles Franklin Kettering, also known as "Boss" Kettering, was born in Loudonville, Ohio, USA the fourth of five children of Jacob Kettering and Martha Hunter Kettering. He was a farmer, school teacher, mechanic, engineer, scientist, inventor and social philosopher.
