Charles Loring Brace (19 June, 1826 in Litchfield, Connecticut - 11 August, 1890) was a contributing philanthropists in the field of social reform. Brace graduated from Yale in 1846 and then went on to study divinity and theology at Yale but left to study at the more liberal Union Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 1849. He was also drawn to New York because it was viewed as the hotbed of American Protestantism and social activity. Wikipedia
