Charles Tufts was an American businessman. Tufts donated twenty acres (80,000 m²) of land in Medford, Massachusetts for what was to be named Tufts University. In time, Charles Tufts donated another 80 acres (320,000 m²), bringing the campus area to 100 acres (400,000 m²). Tufts made his fortune through his brickmaking factory. Tufts is a descendant of Peter Tufts, an early colonist who came to the US from England in 1638. Wikipedia
