Cornelius H. Charlton was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Korean War. Cornelius Charlton was born in West Virginia to Van and Clara (née Thompson) Charlton. In 1944, the family moved from West Virginia to the Bronx in New York City.
