Cyrus Adler (September 13, 1863, Van Buren, Arkansas - April 7, 1940, Philadelphia) was a U.S. educator, Jewish religious leader and scholar. Adler was born in Arkansas, a graduate of University of Pennsylvania and gained a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He was a founder of the Jewish Welfare Board, and an editor of the "Jewish Encyclopedia" and the Jewish Publication Society of America Version of the Hebrew Bible. Wikipedia
