Daniel Irvin Rather, Jr. (born October 31, 1931 in Wharton, Texas) is the former longtime anchor for the "CBS Evening News" and is now under contract and scheduled to serve as managing editor and anchor of a new television news magazine, "Dan Rather Reports", on the new cable channel HDNet.
