David Leslie, Lord Newark (c. 1600-1682) was a cavalry officer and General in the English Civil War and Scottish Civil Wars. The son of the 1st Earl of Lindores, he fought for the Swedish army of Gustavus Adolphus as a professional soldier during the Thirty Years' War. On the outbreak of the Civil Wars in Great Britain, he returned to his native Scotland, to command the armies of the Covenanter Scottish government. Wikipedia
