Major General Dermot Earley (born 1948), the current Deputy Chief of Staff (Support) of the Irish Defence Forces, was named on the 3rd April 2007 by the Irish Government to succeed in June 2007 as the new Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces. Major-General Dermot Earley will be appointed as Chief of Staff to succeed Lieutenant-General Jim Sreenan, who retires in June. He is also a former Gaelic footballer with Roscommon. Wikipedia
