Elhanan Helpman (born March 30, 1946 in Dzalabad, former Soviet Union) is an Israeli economist who works in the field of international trade. Born in the Soviet Union, his parents later emigrated to Israel. After serving in the military from 1963 to 1966, he studied economics and statistics at Tel Aviv University and graduated with a B.A. in 1969 and an M.A. in 1971.
