Flora Lion, 1878-1958, English portrait painter, b. London 3 December 1878. Her father, Michel L. Lion, was born of Franco-Jewish immigrants. He, like his father and other members of an extended London Lion clan, was a successful boot and shoe manufacturer. Flora painted her mother, Regine Levilion, a French citizen, in 1909. This portrait was presented in 1915 to the Tate Gallery where it remains. In 1915 Flora Lion married Ralph P. Amato, who later assumed her surname. Wikipedia
