Frederick Bogardus Chappell '40 , a retired plant manager for the Bristol-Myers pharmaceutical company, was born on January 17, 1917, in Dobbs Ferry, NY. A son of Franklin A. and Willetha Fancher Chappell, he grew up in the New York metropolitan area and prepared for college at the Loomis School in Connecticut. Having entered Hamilton from White Plains in 1935, Fred Chappell joined Chi Psi, ran track, lettered in football, and trouped with the Charlatans. hamilton.edu
