George Clinton (c.1686 - 10 July 1761) was a British naval officer and political leader who served as the colonial governor of Newfoundland in 1731 and of New York from 1743 to 1753. Clinton was the youngest son of the 6th Earl of Lincoln and connected by marriage to the Duke of Newcastle and Henry Pelham. He joined the Royal Navy in 1708 and served for 35 years.
