Gottfried von Strassburg (died c. 1210) is the author of the Middle High German courtly romance "Tristan", which is regarded, alongside Wolfram von Eschenbach's "Parzival" and the "Nibelungenlied", as one of great narrative masterpieces of the German Middle Ages.
