Guido Adler (November 1, 1855, Ivančice (Eibenschütz), Moravia - February 15 1941, Vienna) was a Bohemian-Austrian musicologist and writer. His father Joachim, a physician, died of typhoid fever in 1857. Joachim contracted the illness from a patient, and therefore told his wife Franciska to "never allow any of the children to become a doctor". Wikipedia
