Gwen Margolis (Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 4, 1934) was the first woman president of the Florida Senate, from 1990-1992. She left state government to make an unsuccessful bid for the United States Congress (losing to E. Clay Shaw, Jr.) and thereafter became a County Commissioner for Miami-Dade County until she returned to the state senate in 2002. She was previously married to Allan Margolis Wikipedia
