Ian Temby was admitted to law practice in 1966 and joined a Perth law firm Northmore Hale Davey and Leake in the same year. In 1980 he took silk and set up his own law practice. In 1984 Temby was appointed the first Commonwealth Director of Public Prose nla.gov.au/nla.ms-ms9105
