Ian Welsh is a Scottish politician and former Labour Member of the Scottish Parliament. He was born and brought up in Prestwick, Ayrshire, and has served as a councillor and as the leader of South Ayrshire Council. Welsh was elected to the Scottish Parliament in the 1999 election as the Labour candidate for Ayr.
