James J. Martin (September 18, 1916 - April 4, 2004) was an American historian. He was educated at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Michigan, earning a Ph.D. in history in 1949. He is best known for his work on the history of American individualist anarchism, "Men Against the State", first published in 1953.
