Jean Charles de Menezes (7 January 1978-22 July 2005) was a Brazilian illegal immigrant living in the Tulse Hill area of south London. De Menezes was shot and killed at Stockwell tube station on the London Underground by unnamed Metropolitan Police officers. Initially, police claimed incorrectly that he was wearing bulky clothing and that he had vaulted the ticket barriers running from police.
