James "Jim" Whitehead (born 1942 in Augusta, Georgia) is a Republican member of the Georgia State Senate and a candidate for U.S. Congress in Georgia's 10th congressional district's special election to replace the late congressman Charlie Norwood. Whitehead led in the June 19th, 2007, special election with 44 percent of the vote, but because he did not receive a majority of the votes cast, will face Paul Broun in a runoff election on July 17th, 2007.
