Detective John Michael Gibson was a United States Capitol Police officer assigned to the dignitary protection detail of Congressman Tom DeLay. He was shot and killed after confronting Russell Eugene Weston Jr., who had shot and killed officer Jacob Chestnut seconds earlier.
