Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir John Grandy GCB GCVO KBE DSO KStJ RAF (8 December 1913-2 January 2004) was a senior officer in the Royal Air Force. In the summer of 1940, Grandy led 249 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. In the early part of 1942, Grandy took up command of RAF Duxford where he oversaw the establishment of the RAF's first Typhoon Wing. Grandy was Chief of the Air Staff from 11 April 1967 to 31 March 1971. Wikipedia
