John Smith (1655/6 - 1723) was an English politician, twice serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Smith's father was also called John Smith and he had a sister called Anne Smith, Lady Dashwood. He was educated St John's College, Oxford, was at the Middle Temple and was an MP from 1678.
