John Jackson Sparkman was a conservative United States politician from Alabama. He was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate, where he represented Alabama from 1946 until 1979. He was the Democratic Party Vice Presidential nominee in the 1952 U.S. presidential election. Sparkman was born on a farm near Hartselle, Alabama.
