John Thompson, (born 12 October 1981 in Dublin), is an Irish footballer. He currently plays for Oldham Athletic. He is a versatile defender, although has playing across the midfield in the past. Thompson started his career at Nottingham Forest's, a product of their youth academy. He made his first professional appearance under Paul Hart in 2001-02 after graduating from the academy the preceding summer. He made over 100 appearances for Forest and scored 8 goals. Wikipedia
