Blessed Joseph Vaz (April 21, 1651 at Benaulim - January 16, 1711, Kandy) was a Catholic Jesuit priest from Goa. He is known as "Apostle of Ceylon". He arrived in Sri Lanka at a time of strong Calvinistic propaganda going on in the island, and the Catholic religion proscribed and under persecution. He traveled through out the island and preached to Catholics. He rebuilt many churches. Wikipedia
