Joshua Sands was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. He was born on October 12, 1757 in Cow Neck (now Sands Point), Queens County, Long Island, New York. He received a limited schooling, served as a captain in the American Army during the Revolutionary War, and engaged in mercantile pursuits.
