Louis Alojzi Adamic was a Slovenian-American author and translator. Adamic was born at the Praproče castle in Blato (literally, "Mud") near Grosuplje, in what is now Slovenia. He came from a peasant family. His meager childhood education was obtained from the local schools and in Ljubljana where he was expelled at age 15 for taking part in student demonstrations against the ruling Austrians. Wikipedia
