Louis de Cormontaigne was a French military engineer. He was the successor of Vauban. Together, they designed the fortifications of Metz. An arch bridge he build in Thionville, Moselle between 1745 and 1746, named "Cormontaigne Bridge" after him, is still in use today. Wikipedia
