is a Japanese computer scientist. He participated in the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) XML Working Group. The Working Group designed XML1.0, a markup language specification. Murata and James Clark designed RELAX NG, an XML schema language. In 1982, Murata received his bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Science, Kyoto University. In 1985, he joined Fuji Xerox.
