Mark David Chapman
Mark David Chapman (born May 10, 1955) is the American man who shot and killed musician John Lennon on December 8, 1980. He remained at the scene until arrested and claimed the book "The Catcher in the Rye" would explain his perspective and motivation. Chapman was allowed to plead guilty to second degree murder before his trial began and, despite being assessed as delusional and possibly psychotic, was sentenced to 20 years to life. Wikipedia
