Mary Ball Washington was the mother of George Washington. She was born as Mary Ball in 1708 in Lancaster County, Virginia. She was the only child of Joseph Ball and his second wife, Mary Johnson born Montagu. She met Augustine Washington, whom she married in 1730. Augustine died in 1743. She never remarried unlike most widows in Virginia. She lived to see her son, George Washington inaugurated as president in 1789 but died four months later. Wikipedia
