Maurice Mességué was a country herbalist in France who claimed in his autobiography to have treated, among others, Winston Churchill, Chancellor Adenauer of Germany, and the future Pope John XXIII. He was born in Colayracq St.Cirq (Lot-et-Garonne). Mességué practiced a form of herbalism passed down through his family that involved soaking the patient's feet in a strong decoction of locally gathered herbs. Wikipedia
