Michael Howard was known as an American bicycle manufacturer and business owner (Medici Bicycle Company) before his arrest and conviction as the so-called "Hair Bandit". Howard was arrested Jan. 1, 2002, and pleaded guilty on April 3, 2002 and was sentenced to eight years in prison for cutting off the hair of nine women and a 12 year old girl on the streets of Long Beach and East Los Angeles.
