Michael Z. Williamson (born 1967) is a science fiction and military-fiction author. Born in Birkenhead, England, he and his family emigrated to Canada, then the United States in 1978. "Mad Mike", as a collection of fans call him, served over 20 years in the United States military, in one form or another. Williamson's first book, "Freehold", was released in January 2004.
