Description:
Mir Ali Tabrizi (14th century). Distinguished Iranian calligraphist, to whom the invention of Nasta'liq calligraphy style is attributed. Not much is know about Mir Ali's life. He apparently invented Nasta'liq calligraphic style, and was thus titled "Qodwat al-Kottab" (literarily 'the chief of the scribes'). He lived in Tabriz and was a poet as well as an adept calligrapher (see Dehkhoda dictionary). He died in 850th of Hijra (1446-7). Wikipedia
