Professor Nietzchka Keene was a female film maker. She began her film career by studying and working in Los Angeles and then in 1985 she went to Iceland to study Icelandic and literature. She fell in love with the country and returned in the summer of 1986 to film her first feature film, "The Juniper Tree". She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2004 and died at the age of 52 on the 20 October the same year. Wikipedia
