Owen Chamberlain was a prominent American physicist. He shared the Nobel Prize in Physics for 1959 with his collaborator Emilio Segrè for their discovery of the antiproton, a fundamental particle. Born in San Francisco, Chamberlain graduated from Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia in 1937.
