Paul Touvier was convicted of crime against humanity for his Collaborationist role during Vichy France. He was born in Saint-Vincent-sur-Jabron, Alpes de Haute-Provence, in south-western France. Sympathetic to the ideas of Marshall Petain, Touvier joined the "Milice", a militia of the Vichy regime which collaborated with the Nazis against French partisans (e.g. the resistance). Wikipedia
