Penelope Ying-yen "Penny" Wong (born November 5, 1968), Australian politician, has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian Senate since 2002, representing South Australia. She is Australia's first openly lesbian and first Asian-born female parliamentarian. Wong was born in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and moved to Australia at the age of eight.
